Spoiled Brat Murders Parents, Gets Caught by a Tree

Eileen and Derek Severs were last seen on the 13th of November 1993 in Hambleton, Leicestershire; Derek was leaving a local pub and Eileen was leaving a charity bazaar. Derek was a well-liked businessman in the Hambleton community. Eileen was known for her compassion and her charity work. They were both very social people, so when they began to miss important appointments and planned engagements, their friends knew something was wrong.
Derek was 68 years old, and Eileen was 69 when they were both ruthlessly murdered by their own son.
Roger Severs, who was 37 years old when he was arrested, had recently moved back in with his parents and was receiving some support from them. Roger was unemployed and his parents had agreed to give him a place to stay. He had never been able to hold down a job. Whenever he was in a pinch financially, his parents would try to help him out the best they could.
He was also the beneficiary of their life insurance policies.
