Twenty-one-year-old Brooke Preston had moved out of the apartment in West Palm Beach, Florida that she shared with her roommate and childhood friend, Randy Herman Jr. She was moving away to New York with to be with her boyfriend. However, she left some belongings behind that she wanted to pick up before she left town.
At 9 p.m. on March 25, 2017, a call came into police dispatch. The caller was Herman Jr. who had driven himself to nearby Haverhill Park. What he told the dispatcher was chilling.
“Someone’s been murdered… Just send the police. It was me. I’m sorry.”
The police found Herman Jr. covered in blood with Preston’s body hidden under a blanket. When detectives asked him what had happened, Herman Jr. said he couldn’t remember, but he must have been the one who killed her because no one else was home.
Even more shocking, he said stabbed his friend over 20 times while he was sleepwalking.
Would a jury believe he was really as sound asleep as he claimed to be?
