On the 26th of July 1993, Christina Ann Benjamin and her older stepbrother, Brian James King went missing from Garrett, Texas. Christina and Brian lived with their parents, James King and Donna Benjamin. On the night they disappeared, James woke up in the night to a car honking outside the home. When he opened the front door, James saw his son, Brian entering a vehicle with an unknown driver, but he was unable to catch a glimpse of the driver’s face.

James went back to sleep, assuming his son would be back shortly. When he woke up and realized that neither of the children was home, James and Donna began searching frantically for the kids. When their search turned up nothing, they filed a missing person's report.

Ten days earlier, Christopher Nowlin, a friend of Christina’s, introduced an acquaintance of his to the teenage girl. Twenty-year-old Jason Massey was living in Canton, Texas, and instantly took a liking to beautiful, blonde Christina.
