In October 2012, 37-year-old single mother, Cari Farver, began a casual relationship with a man she met at an auto repair shop. This relationship would cost her life. The man’s name was David Kroupa, but unlike many other true crime stories, the boyfriend wouldn’t be the monster in this case.

What Cari didn’t know was that she wasn’t Dave’s only admirer and that the “other woman” wasn’t about to share him with anyone. She would do anything to make sure he belonged to her forever.

Cari Farver was living in Council Bluffs, Iowa, and went missing in November of 2012, but friends and family continued to receive electronic correspondence from her for years. Texts, phone calls, and emails all claimed that she was fine and just needed time away. But not all the messages from Cari were friendly in nature.

Dave Kroupa lived in Omaha, Nebraska where Cari worked, and only knew Cari in person for two short weeks. However, their connection was a good one and Dave even agreed to let Cari stay in his apartment as it was closer to her place of employment and would save her on commute time.
