In a quaint Irish setting, the haunting memories of a little girl’s disappearance still linger on everyone’s minds. Similar to the case of 3-year-old Madeleine McCann who disappeared while on vacation with family in Praia da Luz, Portugal in 2007, precious six-year-old Mary Boyle simply vanished without a trace while on holiday.

When her mother realized she had not returned from her walk to the neighbor’s house, her family, the local police, and even the army combed through the remote stretches of County Donegal for months looking for any signs of where she could have gone. Their search unfortunately yielded no results.

Mary had accompanied her uncle for a while on the walk until they reached a small body of water that proved to be too deep for her to cross. It remains unclear whether Mary independently made the decision or if her uncle instructed her, but she turned back halfway through their journey. It was only a five-minute walk back to her grandparent’s house.
