Katie Kenyon was murdered with an axe. She was struck in the head 12 times. The man on the other side of that axe was Andrew Burfield. Burfield was Katie’s on-again-off-again boyfriend.

On the 22nd of April 2022, the 33-year-old mother-of-two vanished. Police interviewed Burfield several times, trying to find out where the missing woman could have gone. Burfield claimed he knew nothing about what had happened to her.

During the interview, his story slowly began to metamorphosize. He told investigators that he and Kate had gone to Gisburn Forest in Forest of Bowland, Lancashire to have a picnic together. While there, he said, she bet him that he couldn’t hit a tin can with an axe.

Burfield said when he aimed for the Coca-cola can she was holding in her hand, he missed, and the axe hit Katie in the head instead.

Two days after Katie went missing, a woman called authorities to report finding blood-soaked rags and women's sandals on her property. The blood and shoes both belonged to Katie Kenyon.

How did they get there?
