In the village of Caledonia, New York, a chilling discovery sparked the beginning of an unsolved story that would grow colder by the decade. Tammy Jo Alexander, just 16 years old at the time, was a vibrant and spirited young girl. Tragically, her path took an unthinkable turn, leading her to an untimely death in 1979.

Her lifeless body was discovered in a cornfield. She was wearing men’s clothing.

A teenage girl was found murdered on November 10, 1979. She had suffered two fatal gunshot wounds before her body was left in a field near the Genesee River, just off U.S. Route 20. She had been shot once in the head, dragged from the road into the cornfield, and then shot again in the back.

Prior to her death, she had run away from her home in Brooksville, Florida. Her true identity remained a mystery for over three decades. She was known only as “Caledonia Jane Doe” or “Cali Doe” until January 26, 2015, when the police in Livingston County finally revealed her name, putting an end to the 35-year-old mystery of the identity of this unfortunate girl.
