“The Chameleon Killer” eluded police for decades until the bodies of a young woman and three children stuffed inside barrels were discovered in the remote woods of Bear Brook State Park. But his story didn’t start there. Remains found in both New Hampshire and California were all linked to the same man and there are likely many more still waiting to be found.

Terry Peder Rasmussen operated under many aliases while committing a series of murders on unsuspecting women and children. Throughout his criminal career, he posed as Robert “Bob” Evans, Curtis Mayo Kimball, Gordon Jensen, Larry Vanner, and Gerry Mockerman. Several years after his death the Bear Brook barrel victims were identified through DNA testing and the decades-long story of a “Chameleon Killer” emerged.

Known Victims

Marlyse Elizabeth Honeychurch attended Thanksgiving 1978 at her mother’s home in La Puente, California, and brought along her new boyfriend, Terry Rasmussen.
