Ex Leaves Suspicious Package for the Mother of His Child
She was a young 29-year-old mother, raising two kids on her own and had recently found love again. But tragically, her happy story would come to an unexpectedly violent end. Kemberly Sue Wenger lost her life in 1993 when someone placed a packaged bombed inside her home in Bloomington, Illinois.
Kem was a busy mom with two children, a daughter, Kelsey, and a son, Logan, and she was working as a hairdresser in Illinois, taking babysitting and housecleaning gigs on the side to make ends meet. Kurt Simon, her fiancé and a student of presbyterian ministry, had come into Kem’s life when she needed him the most. He offered to adopt her son Logan and help support him financially.
Logan had even begun to call him “daddy.”
Unexpected Delivery
On the night of the 22nd of May 1993, at around 10:30 p.m., the couple arrived back in Bloomington from a trip to Iowa where Kurt had been attending a seminary and where close friends had thrown them a surprise engagement shower. Little did they know, a suspicious package would be waiting for them at Kem’s home on North Roosevelt Avenue.
