6-year-old Timmothy Pitzen has been missing since 2011. Aurora Police Department

I have been haunted by this story ever since it first came out. A mother disappears with her child, only to later be found dead, and her child nowhere in sight.

Where is this precious boy?

Was his mother speaking metaphorically when she said he was with people who would take care of him and that he is safe?

Did she take his life?

And if not, who has him and why haven’t they come forward?

Will we ever have answers to these questions?

James “Jim” Pitzen with his son, Timmothy, and his wife, Amy Fry-Pitzen. Jim Pitzen

Six-year-old Timmothy James Pitzen was dropped off at his school in Aurora, Illinois on May 11, 2011, by his father, James Pitzen. Timmothy hopped out of his dad’s Jeep and made his way toward his kindergarten classroom, carrying his Spider-Man backpack. Little did they know that this would be their last goodbye.

“I told him I loved him and to be good. And then he was gone.” -James Pitzen
